As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (Associate), Dr. Leslie Guditis has discovered some tools that may help you find answers to your challenges and experience more peace in your life and in your surroundings. So often, the answers are right in front of us. We simply need someone to help us see them more clearly.
What is family life education? The goal of family life education is to enrich and improve the quality of individual and family life. It helps families work together in close relationships and facilitates the ability of people to function effectively in their personal lives and as members of society. While various professionals assist families, it is the family life educator who incorporates a family system that is an educational approach to individual, marriage, and family issues.
Family life education includes knowledge about how families work; the inter-relationship of the family and society; human growth and development throughout the life span; both the physiological and psychological aspects of human sexuality; the impact of money and time management in daily life; and the importance and value of education for parenting and therapy.
Dr. Guditis' practice encompasses both family therapy and family life education. By bringing both education and therapy to the mix, she has found that the solutions to the challenges go deeper, and the results are more long-term than if one only has an educational experience or only had a therapeutic relationship.
Dr. Guditis offers counseling and therapy to individuals, couples, and families in person, in her office, and in the near future "Web Therapy" counseling. A webcam will be set up in your home and therapy/counseling will be conducted in the comfort of your own home with Leslie on her webcam in her office. This will provide easier and more convenient scheduling of your time. The cost of these counseling sessions will be less, as an incentive to use the service. Leslie hopes to go primarily to web therapy at some point. This also gives her the opportunity to work with people in distant locations.
I also plan to focus on counseling adolescent athletes in the Denton, Texas area and with families experiencing financial and emotional stress.
